Hi all,
I'm looking for a good reliable freight company to send a mast interstate, any recommendations? (Obviously price is also important...)
Thanks, Marty

most cost efficient is e-go aka Hunter Express sent depot to depot. Just make sure you get insurance and pack well. You also need to regularly check if the package has arrived at the depot yet. Some of the pickup locations are a bit slow when it comes to letting the recipient know their package is ready for pickup.

As said www.e-go.com.au
I used PVC stormwater pipe 90mm diameter for that extra protection. You could find second-hand Pipe at local recyclers for around $5 to $10

so far for me, Trans-direct have worked really well, they give you a list of options so you get to choose.

I bought a mast from the seabreeze ads that was dropped off to e-go for shipping to Perth. It was never seen again.

Initially e-go said they had no record of it ever having been dropped off to them. When the receipt was produced showing they had actually accepted it, they searched for a week before telling us that the shipment had been lost. They kindly offered to pay the cost of the freight, which they said was all they were liable for.

Use e-go at your own risk

I've used both Smartsend (Door to Door) and E-go (Depot to Depot) since 2015. Smartsend has been the best value door to door courier service, consistently providing the cheapest quote. Smartsend usually use Startrack as their carrier, who are very reliable. E-go use Hunter Express. I've also had no issues with damaged or lost goods with either courier. My most recent deliveries were for two boards, one from Brisbane to Melbourne (Smartsend $125) and Brisbane to Sydney (E-go $80)

I've sold heaps of gear and sent it with Ego. So far I've had no issues. I usually try to send depot to depot ( less handling) and over package..

Depends where your sending it, Some depots you drop off at are nothing more than an overgrown garden shed that have a driver call in once every 3 days and the office is only staffed 3 hrs a day at best. If you got to pick up from a Depot, make it a major one where it is staffed appropriately.

Had some items sent Ego Depot to Depot that took a lot longer than expected and had to argue my items were actually there!

recommendation - Large Depot to Large Depot!

www.transdirect.com.au

Always use a commercial address to a commercial address that is your location to another location, pack well, forget insurance, unless you wish to pay more, your call, might be worth insuring it if you feel the item is valuable or if it is being sold to another in another state, just make sure you opt for it and charge the buyer for it. Always best to get the buyer to organise and pay for his own freight and insurance as he or she is taking the risk.

Also join up to be a site member as you get a discount (last time I did this), as well.

Example quote (before discount) follows, made up dimensions of mast...not sure if correct, might be scope for more savings:

Thanks so much for sharing this, I'm amazed at the choice of gear from WA so keen to look at getting a spare mast sent from WA to SYDNEY.
