I nearly caught this low life Sunday night who managed to aquire some of my power tools. He may come back for the bikes and boards. The cops think that the theif has a master key and systematically working their way through the neighbourhood.

Is there a preffered way to secure gear in your garage (particularly in Sydney). I got a chain on the bikes now and a new garage loack but I need that peace of mind...

I will check the House & Contents policy as well

Perhaps something that sets crims on fire when they try to acquire your toys.
Cheers

Don't get your hopes up with the contents insurance. After much searching and arguing I have been unable to find an insurance company that will cover watersports equipment, especially surf boards and windsurfing gear for thief from a locked house.

The pricks will cover an unsecured bike stolen from your front yard but not a windsurfer locked inside a shed or a deadlocked house. When I explained that the board could not physically be taken out of the house with deadlocked doors they still would not cover it for thieft.

I don't want cover for damage or stolen at the beach just fire and thieft at home.

I have AIG-Ansvar insurance and their cover mentions windsurfing equipment specifically.

Update -
NRMA dont cover sailboards. I am waiting to hear back from their boating insurance policy but I doubt they do. I will investgate what's been suggested.

HBF cover all of my windsurfing gear in the shed out the back. Its alarmed with a 110db screamer next to the door. As soon as it gets dark I arm the shed separately from the house. Then when we go to bed I arm the house perimiter. And I programmed it to call my mobile as soon as it goes off if I am not home. So the bastards better be able to run fast. Being a sparky I have heaps of security at my home. With future plans to have 500W flood lights turn on by movement sensors

Just put Elmo in your garage to guard everything. He'll scare any thief away.

you could install on your garage the south african anti car jacking deviced. is so that when some trys to car jack you. you hit a button and flames shoot out the side of your car burning the **** out of the car jacker.. it can also be installed on garages. just hook the door up to the trigger and anyone unexpected going into your garage gets smoked
