Now I haven't been wavesailing for ages, and have forgotten how it all works? Will be in the waves in about 4 days..yippee!!

What fin should I use on my Thommen RS 59 to make it more user friendly in the waves, and should I take the camber inducers out of the Gaastra Vapours, if I take them into the surf?

And what is a bottom turn? and a Smack the lip? And should I wear my gps in the waves?

dont wear a gps, take out your cams, and for fin it depends on what wind and wave conditions, if its smaller waves, lighter wind, try a free wave, 20-23, but if it high wind and good(ish) waves i think around a 21 would be good, and wave fin.

Why should it bother you now not knowing what a bottom turn or cutback is?

it's never bothered you before

hanging out with hedgie a few years ago in maui.

he was gear testing with finian as they were on the gaastra team together.

final upwind from kanaha was hookipa and hedgie did a long sesh on his slalom gear bottom turning and slashing and getting airs while we looked on........speechless. (beers in hand)

no hardie, leave your cams and slalom fin on.

gps will mark your final resting place.

It varies on the swell, but 3 to 4 metres is common this time of year.

And G'day to you Robert, welcome to seabreeze!

I suspect hardie was joking, but sometimes it's hard to tell!

where he's going, the waves start small about 500m out then progressively get bigger the further out you go. So if he gets the predicted 4m swell on wednesday, it'll be knee high 500m out and about masthigh 1km out.
So he can have a great flat water blast on the inside, and just go as far into the waves as is comfortable.

Don't worry about your english, as has already been intimated, some of the young guys on here are worse!!!!!

Hello Rob

Welcome to Aus. We have a somewhat unusual sense of humour over here. Often when we make a joke those from other countries just look at us blankly and wonder what planet we are from.

Your English is pretty good. Much better than my Dutch.
