Only 2 weeks to go! The 2008 GWSF is looking twice as big as last year. Entry forms will be posted on line soon.

The GWSF is set to be 'bigger than Mambo' with event organiser Matt Ruthven working overtime and securing major sponsors for the January event. Iluka Resources, Woodstock Bourbon and Ranger Outdoors are the latest to promise cash and prizes. Add this to the following list of other sponsors - WIN, GWN, 98.5FM, Guardian, IGA - Glenfield, G-Spot, Brighteyes Geraldton etc and the ’08 Geraldton Windsurfing Festival looks set to be the biggest windsurfing event in WA.

Like last year, the aim of the event is to put the fun back into the sport similar to the Merimbula Mambo Competition. Competitors must back up their performance on the water with a solid display of "socialising" if they hope to take out one of the many prizes on offer.

A $60 entry fee includes - non stop BBQ for Saturday and Sunday.

- quality printed T-Shirt .

- free entry into the GWSF "Big Night Out" at the GBH on Saturday evening with the Mid West's best bands - Half Cut and Fantacide, Fashion Show,Wet T-Shirt Competition plus complimentary drink on arrival.
- insurance.

This represents great value for cost of entry.

This competition does have a serious side, that is to go sailing until you can’t hold on anymore. No hanging around waiting for your heat - just sail as much as you want, when you want. The judges will
remain anonymous and will also be sailing. Sailors will complete a detailed description of their sailing gear, board type, sail design, sail numbers, colour, etc. and will also fly a streamer off their mast to indicate they’re in the
competition.
There are 4 divisions; Juniors, Womens, Veterans, Open.

There has been some very generous prizes donated by our sponsors on short notice which is greatly appreciated, special thankyou to Ranger Outdoors, Iluka,Flying Objects, Skilled, IGA-Glenfield, GHD, Coates, Sunset Holiday Park, Wests, Cellarbrations, G-spot, Sailwest, Ezzy Sails, GBH and Surfsail. Also a big thanks to Steve Sullivan and Eric Brokken for donating the uniquely designed trophies.
