Was up at Geraldton last weekend. On Sunday was sitting around at Corro's until 5pm waiting for the wind. Then went to Pt Moore where I managed to at least get wet in around 10-15knots thanks to my 14m tea bag.

Yet the next day back in Perth when I looked back at Sunday's wind graphs from Geraldton there were green arrows centred in the low 20's from about 3pm onwards. How is this possible ?? Isn't the wind speed taken from the airport which is inland a bit and should get less wind ? Does it always over read the wind or was this an exception ?

If the meteorologists from BOM look at these wind readings they will think that their cr*p forecast of 20-25 knots for last Sunday was spot on.

holgs, typically the airport wind readings arn't a good representation of whats happening around gero. Just look at the historical wind patterns and how often it can be easterly at the airport yet be southerly on the ocean. a quick look at tarcoola, gpa onshore and offshore readings and the airport will show the variation.

As for last sunday, I don't know, Point Moore is usually the windiest.
