I'm heading up to Geraldton in a couple weeks

Which is the best caravan park to stay at if I want to sail Coronation beach?

probably sunset caravan park (there is a nice break right in front of the caravan park on the right swell etc)

BUT
you are still 20 odd km's from Corro.

You can camp at corro's itself but there's no facilities other than eco toilets. i.e. no water, power etc.

corro's is the place for consistency.

good flat water, good jumps, OK waves (so I'm told just a beginner in waves myself and never actually sailed there, just watched a couple of times on the way home from Kalbarri (wifes aunty lives there))

Just come back, spent 14 days, only got 4 good sails, wont go so early next year!!!!!

We always stay at Sunset, Drumonds is a bit closer to Corro and alows dogs, but it's more expensive.

Sunsets is a down the line wave, but I find it chops up fairly quickly, so I try and sail it before the breeze gets too strong. The chop doesn't seem to worry the locals thou.

Corro Is a magic place, but usually a bit too onshore for good down the line power, and it's hard to find a section that actually peels left. There's about .5km of dead flat water before you hit the waves, and it picks up the swell better than sunsets.
The wave zone goes on for ever when it's big, the waves just keep increasing in size the further you go out, so be careful if you're not used to big stuff it's a hell of a long swim if a mast high monster wipes you out!!!! Don't try and sail outside the breaking area like you can most other places, just gybe when you start to get outside your comfort zone. Then notice how far you are from the beach! Even the guys doing loops at the beginning of the wave area are about a small fingernail at arms length

Grumples, is there any sailing at Kalbarri, other than on the river? I'll be driving up that way (from Melbourne!) in January. Hoping to get at least a day trip to Corro's from there.

Mikey, I honestly dont know.

Only really been there on family visits and even then not really that often.

Jakes Point is a magic surfing wave and you could possibly sail in that bay (tho I don't think you would sail the break), but it's not the kind of place that would really inspire me to whip the gear out of the back of the wagon and rig up, the coastline is pretty gnarly and no real bombies or anything to make it worthwhile ...... IMO bear in mind I'm not that great a sailor either

Agreed Grumps, don't think you could sail Jakes, too much of a wind shadow.
Out the river mouth looks interesting, sat and had morning tea at the southern entrance last year and watched for a while. It's a bit hard from that angle to tell exactly what the waves are doing. Wouldn't fancy going out by myself, but on a low swell day with a mate or 2, you could suss out the situation. Even looking from the other side would give a better idea.
