Hi All
Any advice on purchasing a GoPro? Is the 6 worth the extra $200?
Thanks

If you are going to stick it on your boom or mast and film you sailing, I don't think there is anything extra to be had after about 3+or 4.
HD and 60fps plenty, don't see the need for wireless on/off etc.
I dunno, I am pretty basic with it.

Image stabilisation is worth considering. GP 5 and 6 have it (and it's very good). I don't think GP 4 has.

4 doesn't have it. Session 5 is also an option with stabilisation & 4K. Sessions are now being run out so good deals around if you want to look for the smaller sized Camera.
check gumtree for deals too

I find the hero 6 great although I haven't used anywhere near it's potential. Image stabilisation is great and even at 1440 res ( I can't play 2 or 4k) you can still crop in and get good quality.

Hero5 session, unreliable but darn amazing picture, light, good battery life, 4:3, true wide angle, now inexpensive.
From my extensive research nothing compares. Wish they'd sponsor me!

Any water resistance/proof product with a replaceable battery is a plus with me now days. Li-ion/Li-po batteries have a set life.

Hi Steve, I'm very impressed with the GoPro Hero 5 Session. Doesn't have a replaceable battery as @jn1 mentioned, but I figure that at $300 and a high likelihood that I will damage it well before the battery gives up, its an awesome little beast. I cant imagine that the session 6 could be any better for the extra cost.
I made up a dodgy boom/clew mount with a $2.50 bit of pipe from Bunning which gives really good vision of my feet (and pot belly) for first day on the new foil board (below). Back foot too far back= trouble

Thanks all! It sounds like the Hero5 Session is a pretty good option.
Cheers

Unreliable? What issues? are they same with all of the Sessions?

Are the other Sessions better? More reliable?

The original session I think was a bit better but the image quality wasn't as good. I like to film others and increasing quality I can digital zoom and still have decent footage. I now film in 1.4k and it's good for 2 hours.

I'm on my third hero 5 session and this one still has bugs only I can work around them and have no issues while filming. The camera freezes when charging and needs to be reset.
