I'm selling my SB Evos and buying Quads. At the moment I'm sailing a 70l & 80l Evo. Apparently when sailing Quads, you generally sail higher volume boards - roughly +5l i.e for me 75 & 85l? Is that right? Would a 92l Starboard Quad be too big for me (I weigh 80kg)? Along with a 77l Quad as my smallest board.

I ride a 95 L Quattro quad with my 5.3 and 4.7. Match made in heaven. I'm 82 kg.

maybe the 80L was a pig of a board and the 70L was a ripper shape?

I try and recomend 10L gap minimum between boards and the smallest board (quad) being within +5L of ur body weight.

so u should be on :
small quad 80-85L
large quad 90-95L depending upon ur small board brobably the 92.
I dunno what the SB range is tbh.

I'm 78kg and find my 82JP quad an excelent do all. I havent needed a 92 lately but only because I've been kiting a bit or will just put up with the sinking if the waves are good enough, plus i dont get the chance to sail as much as I used to.

What size boards were you on before? And where do you sail?My 80l feels like a pig in the waves compared to my 70l, so obviously reluctant to go higher than 80l, but as it's a quad I'm hoping they sail like a much smaller board.

80 L and 90 L Starboard Evo and 105 L FSW. I sail along the Southern California coast - Leo Carrillo, County Line, C-Street, and sometimes Arroyo Laguna and Jalama. Wind tends to be light apart from Jalama and Arroyo Laguna. I don't use a 4.2 often enough to justify a board for it so I just make do with the 95 L. Not ideal, but it works.
