The loft booms look very nice, well designed and made. The only concern is the quality of the aluminium but there is no way you will find that out for another year... but for the price they are worth it anyway.

According to their web-site they are made with T8 aluminium, which is the same alloy used in NP X6 booms.

Sorry should probably be a bit more specific by quality of the aluminium I meant the complete process- wall thickness, bending, heat and corrosion treatment. Many booms are made of similar spec'd alloy but some certainly do not last as long as others.

Er thats all I can really say, i'm not a metalurgist nor do I desire to become one in my spare time

Gun sails- good racing pedigree held many speed records and one of the popular speed sailing brands in the past. German made and have all the bells and whistles.

I was recently in Germany and purchased some gear from Gun Sails and thoroughly recommend them.
I got a 4.0m Wave MC and 4.7m Target, as well as a 100% RDM carbon mast. Oh and a mast extension and base etc. All this came to just under $1200 Australian !!! Not forgetting you can claim back the local tax (16%) when you leave the country and take the goods with you.
The sails are well made and handle very well. The 4.7 m is very powerful. Gun is indeed a German company, but the sails are made in Sri Lanka, like any other i guess, China etc?If you want any further advice re. purchasing gear overseas let me know.

Where can I pick up on this deal

Your analogy would be true if Hyundai started winning every WRC round.

Gun Sails epitomizes German build quality and our performance is second to none but Gun also works on the American business model of only making a small margin on each product we sell, which enables us to sell quite literally “shed loads of equipment". This in turn leads to “high volume and lower production costs” The end result is that Gun Sails is one of the highest performing products on the market and yet is the most competitively priced product available.

Forgive me for thinking they are German made.

obviously my comments re the hyundai was a pisstake as to how low the prices are, and no doubt they are a quality sale.

at least I didnt compare them to a Lada Niva lol

I would be keen to see them up close, I have heard good things :)

Reminds me of a joke:

A man driving a Lada Niva pulls up next to a school girl walking home. He asks her if she would like a lift. The girl walks off. The car follows her and again asks if she would like a lift. The girl walks away swifter this time. A third time the car follows her, and asks if she would like a lift home. The girl turns to the man and says "Dad, how many times do I have to tell you, I won't be seen dead in the Lada!"

haircut your right! they are next to the $1.00 chocalate bars as you walk out the door! but you have to move the booms before you can get to those sails, I went in, bought the Bodyguard dvd for $2.50 and a slalom sail at the same time! great service

Took my loft boom out on the water today. More than happy with it's performance.

Don't be put of by the $139 price tag - they really are a steal. I think the reason for them being so cheap is that the guy at windsurfingsales.com is selling them at or near cost as a bit of a promotion for his web-site.

I bought a 65% mast from him as well, heaps cheaper than many stores. Seems a nice bloke, and everything was packaged really well. Plus it's a real alternative for southern Sydney-siders who do not want waste a whole day travelling north to buy a spare part. (Just wish he sold harness lines).

Regards,
Harrow. (non-affiliated with windsurfingsales.com)
