Im looking at buying a new harness and wondering what peoples opinions are on seats V waists and the different brands.
Ive only ever used a seat harness, its getting older now and i sometimes have trouble with the hook working loose and sitting further from the body than when i started. Ne1 get this prob?? - just wondering if it is common or might just be because mines a few years old. What are the reccomendations

Cheers
Toz.

Get a waist harness and move your boom up,your stance will improve and it will hold in that middle age spread and the chix will think you're spunky again

Horses for courses.
Big sails ,flat water, seat harness.
Small sails ,stronger wind , waves, waist harness.

I have taught 100's of people to use harness's over the years, and still have no definative answer. In general though the above applies, but you will still get Formula racers who swear by their waist harness's (K.Pritchard for example) and wave sailors who swear by their seat harness.
The only person who can really tell is you. Try both, go with which ever you prefer.(I use both) (not at the same time though!!!!!)

C'mon Simon, we kow you're lying and that you wear both underneath your clobber - one to control the wayward derriere and the other for that other bit further north....

Cheers fellas

I notice my stance seems to suffer a bit in the seat harness, looking around everyone seems is much more upright ... seems harder to stand out right with the seat.

Think ill grab a waist harness for the manouverability and thinking of giving the waves a bit of a try soon - but thats a different post.

So do people generally rig the boom shoulder hight for waist or move it closer to head hight?
