Is it time to peel off the repair tape from our neglected boards and sails and fix them properly, ready to start again after winter

What do people do during winter, try to catch an occasional sail?
Or just pack up the gear and resign to the fact that windsurfing is more fun and consistent during the warmer months

yeah, but you still need to wear a full length wetsuit!
with all those box jellyfish and iricanji in the water
or are they not a threat during the cooler months?

I sailed at Knobby's two years ago during kite week, two windsurfers and 50+ kites on the water was a very impressive site!

Officially they're gone at the end of month, but I'm sure the little b*stards are gone now. May to end of October is stinger free, but I've been sailing here all year round for 15 years. In summer we wear a stinger suit, looks gay but gets us on the water. What's a wetsuit

If you saw an old worn out b*stard at Yorkies, maybe me, got the bongo van & trailer.

I think we sailed as much in the "winter" as we did in the summer last year on the Gold Coast, those SW OR W can be pretty strong, just keep an eye on the forcast and choose the right location.

That's if you don't mind sailing in a CONSTANT 3-30kts blowing through the tall buildings

winter is good in qld.

lots of westerlies to sail in. "usually". May is normally a little quiet but june sees things picking up again.

they are just not as reliable as the seabreezes. like sonic said, last year i did lots of sailing through winter. main spots being wello and redcliffe. a lot of the goldy crew drive to wello in winter. let's hope this year the wind happens again.

We'll be having a WindWanderers meet as soon as it blows again and last year we had really good numbers at the winter meets. 20-30 people.

Actually last year was weird, we sailed alot through winter yet never really had any big westerlies. Was bound to happen I go out and finally buy a wetsuit which lets me sail in winter without freezing my cajoules off and there is no bloody westerlies. I think I sailed 1 westerly with it the rest were south-easters.

Actually I recon we sailed more last winter than the last 4 months this year. I think this winter will be much the same.

like the others said, winter has been good in se qld last couple of years hopefully it will make up for the 2 months of windless christmas tripe that we had, and having the new sailing spot at vp for this winter when the wind is an undecided s or sw should be lurvely
