Harrow, what about finding out the difference in the weight of straps when wet, compared to dry. Should be a more meaningful comparison. You'd have to work out an appropriate "saturation" protocol. I think you could probably recover tht extra 50g by chosing straps which absorb less water, not that such a weight saving is likely to make a noticeable difference.

This whole weight thing has me so worried I am going to sail in my only my jocks from now on.

Thats an unbelievable huge difference, I'd really like to know the difference when they are all wet. Do you have digital scales? Can you take em all off again and re do the experiment with them wet?

No Harrow, I don't care that much about the wet weight, even though that's what really counts, except when carrying dry gear to the water. And it doesn't matter how light a wet board and rig is, after a good exhausting session, it still feels like it weighs a ton!

More ideas for weight reduction: Drill holes in the mast...cut your toenails extra short...take laxatives the night before ...shave your b****...take out your nipple rings...

Harrow, could you weigh them wet, preferably shortly after dunking...the difference may be even greater and it is a closer approximation to the real world and is a valuable guide to float if you have to slog back when the wind has dropped.
re the fin.. the weight is based on volumne and density. Glass fins are heavy ~ 50% more than carbon. Lenght is not the issue but as the fin gets bigger it increases weight by the power of 3, ie 32/25 = 1.28 eg 28% longer but it also 28% thicker and wider so it ends up 1.28 x 1.28 x 1.28 = 2.1 times heavier.)
As you have the digital scales how about telling us how much you Tabou weighs when fully wet?
Guys pay a fortune to get the special light versions when more than one layup is offered... maybe they should just get lightweight straps.
