Hey folks; I just started about 2 months ago; bought a Bic Techno 240D and Chinook 5.5 rig; I have had a lot of fun! Unfortunately I injured myself snow skiing and just got around to getting rotator cuff surgery 2 weeks so I've been taking pain pills, reading about windsurfing, and spending money on things I can't use :)The reading paid off some, I think. I'm hoping I'll get better performance upwind and at higher winds by replacing the stock fin. I bought a new 4?in fin and haven't tried it yet. I did all the riding below on plastic fin :). When I heal up I plan to get some lessons somewhere.

I ordered hoopika masts, a carbon boom, Cheetah 5.5, 7.5, and a Kona Carbone; I'm probably not gonna get wet till March or so unless maybe doing it one handed, wearing a sling, with 5.5 and low wind.

If anyone had used a shoulder immobilizer while windsurfing I'd love to hear about it!

Cheers!

Get well soon mate. I'm sure once you get back out there you'll be loving it. :)

Looks like a nice place to sail, you got any pics? Would be a great location by the look of it.

Having had shoulder surgery before I can say - do all your physio properly, all the rotator cuff exercises properly and when it is all done and finished keep up the fitness with weights and pushups
Don't be tempted to go out early with a shoulder gadget.

I think it's nice but I feel like I'm going to be wanting more wind much of the time if I improve :). I don't see hardly any windsurfing around here; mostly kiteboarding. Couple pics; arrows point to the broken down dock @ the place I'm renting; I haven't made it to the ocean with the windsurf yet.I'm kind've a gym rat and very motivated to fix shoulder but at this point I think I'm mostly waiting for tendon/bone to heal together; I'm doing just about all the reasonable things I know to do to help it along {wear brace, PT, supplements, ice, gonna get PRP shot}. I am very tempted to sail with shoulder immobilized in a few weeks but probably bad idea :p

10kts and kinda warm managed to get on the water and didn't have to swim too far and kept bad arm on brace not using it; I forgot harness lines and tired quickly; will try lines next time :). Probably looks lame but it put a smile on my face :)

I'd like to see you sheet in with no harness and only the use of one arm!
Big cudos for even thinking of going out like that
