I'm in the process of passing on Aussie culture (?) to yank workmates, using some great classic movies.
Yeah, stuff like Don's Party, Blue Murder, and... Windrider.

To no avail of course, but anyhow da missus and I have a ball in doing so...

About the abysmal movie Windrider, a question: what actual then-top aussie sailor performed the 'loop' scenes? Everyone knew that at the time, but I can't remember, pissed as I was watching this at the time at the local League's club. Movie was made end of 1985.

I put the word loop in quotes, as IMDB says the loop clips were made up. And we all know the Internet is never wrong.

(Some terrible, terrible acting by Nicole K in there. Was probably her last movie before she tried to catch up with Michael Jackson and look like a white grocery plastic bag...)

Love the flubber in Windrider where the sunrise is oceanside (story being in WA).
They also have a couple of scenes where the wind and shadow come from different directions in consecutive shots.

They probably wanted the script and flubbers to go along with the acting...

I loved Windrider! Didn't notice anything about the acting. Too busy perving on Nicole.

Tom had not paid for thems breasts yet.

I had to agree with the yanks: the main roles had the combined acting skills of a coconut, not that it mattered.

Personally I liked the mid-80s setup in the movie, that's why I chose it. I found the movie representative of the carefree, but caring, attitude of the times, that's all. Before the red-light cams, before union was pro, when aussie rules was not franchised yet, when Edelstein was still a doctor. Some people even thought Roger Rogerson was a good guy then. About the time at which Hawke decided that all of Australian problems would be solved through accelerated immigration.

Actually the next show will be Blue Murder, great flick.
But me reckon they haven't got buckley's chance of getting it.

Funny how at 0:43 he is jumping a huge wave and loses it, then the next shot of him in the water is obviously a completely different beach as there are no rolling waves, and looks like hardly any wind.

Also note at 1:30 the guy is on a thruster...

Yes Windaddict, even non-sailors caught on all those flubbers... was fun for a laugh as a group still (had to have a few beers to get started).

For Nicole's fans: one site says a scene was deleted whereby she sails around naked on the windsurfer. Was deleted for lack of time, not on the account of good taste or others.

Her confession (at the time) was that it was her idea of making the transition into adult acting by appearing naked. Weird, but the reasoning gels with what we see of her now IMO.

Tonight was the Plumber, with same friends. Wow, the missus and I had a ball, though the locals here didn't get much of it. The Cable Guy is sooooo copied on this one...

That plumber was one spooky dude, didn't get to sleep all night.

I was trying to convince my cousin and his girlfreind (while we were watching Mad Max at a drive in in Sacramento) that the movie we were watching was made in Australia. They wouldn't hear of it, they were convinced that it was made in Death Valley (California).
I believed at that stage that they wouldn't listen to anything that would seemingly detract from anything American. [}:)]
So I began to drink heavily, enjoying the American accents, as it was dubbed as well. Apparently we talk funny!
I like watching Aussie movies, but I wouldn't like to sit next to someone and explain the plot to them throughout.

Most of the Mad Max movies were shot around Coober Pedy..
