Get a hat with a chinstrap, as well as some seabreeze sunnies.

Last season I used a pork pie hat,

had trouble with the brim blowing down over my eyes when blasting back upwind... now I've got a baseball cap with chinstrap, works well.

I wear something some sorta style as teh pork pie hat, an old denim-type surf hat, fits perfect to my head with light strap thing, stiff from years of salt so doesn't annoy vision

That's not a "pork pie" hat it's a "bucket" hat. "Pork pie" is what the cockies wear for dress up.

Ive been using a hat pretty similar to the first one for the last couple of seasons. Works great. Just dont wash it and the salt will keep it going
Just tighten in strong wind and when in the waves. Heaps of guys using them now.
Most popular surf wear companies now make them. Must have something to do with the ageing population of surfers and wind surfers

Gath helmet - it stops head and ears burning and protects all at the same time!

You can actually sew a strap onto any hat - those surf hats can cost like 30 bucks or more! But they do stay on better.

I tried a baseball cap once and when I finished sailing my face and neck had got too much sun; I felt like I'd been bbq'd. The round brim is better, as long as it's not too long that it gets in your eyes...

I recently bought a hat similar to the second one from my local surf shop.
The brand is "peak". Paid about $25
Had to cut off the little rivet/button on the top as it pushed an indentation into the monofilm of my sail when carrying my kit on my head.
Good quality material with chin strap and mesh ear covers.
Only problem is the visor flips up and back when sailing over 30 knots.

pretty sure the FCS bucket hats also have a stiff brim above the eyes so it doesn't fold down there but can everywhere else for ducking waves etc.
