Seems like a lot of my sailing for the next few months is likely to be on Narrabeen so trying to figure out whether it's worth getting an even bigger sail to make the most of light winds.
Current biggest is a 7.7 hellcat. I'd wondered whether a 8.8 H2 would be worth a go for a bit of extra power on light days. Never used anything more than a 7.7 so interested to know if you think it would make a real difference and also what size board I would need (I'm fairly clumsy and uncoordinated so can push board size too far).
Thanks

A 7.7m should be about as big as you need on the lake in a westerly wind. Over the next few months the wind will largely be from the west and as a result will be extremely gusty. By extremely gusty it usually is anywhere between 0 and 25 knots in a matter of minutes, with variable speed and direction. Sometimes westerlies are a bit more consistent there but not often.
A larger board would be of value as it make it easier to stay on the plane if the wind drops off and help you from not falling into that cold water when the wind drops away completely.
I don't sail much on Lake Dangerous anymore but when I did in westerlies I never used a sail bigger than 7.5m, usually used something around 6.6m or less as the gusts come through very hard.
