These Marine Investigation reports make absolutely rivetting reading. For anyone who turned up at Nobby's Beach to find a bulk carrier at their launch site, this is how it happened. Starts off a bit slow, but it gets interesting from about 0500 on the day of the grounding so scroll down to there (page 12). It's sort of like watching the film Titanic- you know how it's going to end, but the players don't know what they're in for.

I'll bet the phone call to the ships' managers in Japan wasn't one the master really wanted to make.
