Hi I smashed the nose of a Fanatic skate which has a carbon kevlar deck.

I watched the Mark Oz PVB nose job video and have all the gear, the only problem is that on sanding back the paint the exposed Kevlar has all gone fluffy. Is there a technique to minimise the Kevlar fluff or do you just glass on top of the fluff?

Thanks

Def glass over the fluff

make sure it’s perfectly shaped though, else when u re sand it you’ll find the high points, break thru your glass and then you’re back to the fluffing up.
go about 3x 4oz to be sure.

its fun ….. 🙄

Oh yes! Working with kevlar is nicer resin job 😡 ... everytime a good nightmare for me! What Mark say, a good layer of glass or something sandable over. And use enough resin to laminate, too dry is really bad, kevlar as most "plastic" fibers don't married very well with resin. I find that dry it in oven first is better. If you end with some fluffy cut fibers here and there, soak with cyano glue, let cure and scrap with cutter blad perpendicular, find it work better than sandpaper.

Yes, the secret is to soak the fuzzy in foam safe cyanoacrylic glue, let it cure and then shave them off with a sharp knife. Once you get the fuzzy under control, laminate a layer of glass over the top so you can sand it for finishing.
