Windsurfers are necessarily optimists, but after a long weekend with plenty of time and no wind it is easy to think someone is plotting against you...

Huey's laws of windsurfing:

1.The wind will drop when you get to the beach and pick up after you leave, particularly if you then get involved in some lengthy task.

2.If you have a day off there will be no wind despite a promising forecast.

3.If you buy new gear there will be no wind to try it out. Corollary - if you have bought big gear it will blow a gale!

4.If you book a holiday at a great windsurfing location it will trough out all week.
Corollary: If you have no windsurfing gear with you it will blow all week.

5.The windiest days will be those when you can't possibly go sailing.

6.If you plan a windsurfing event there will be no wind.

7.If you rig a smaller sail the wind will drop. Corollary - if you rig a larger sail the wind will pick up.

9. If you talk up a forecast on Seabreeze, there will be no wind. (Huey reads Seabreeze)

Where ever you are, it will always be windier somewhere else. And as soon as you go to that somewhere else, it will be windier where you were.

32. After working your arse off for 2 years and finally taking some well earned annual leave, a trough will sit on the west coast for 2 weeks and ruin any chance of 'enjoying the holidays'. now i have to spend it with the family.
