We usually do one of these a year

In this one an S1 5.0 is built in "Hypertime" by Ben and Jas

(I Used the Go Pro interval camera for a lot of the shots in this one - its great having a high quality stills timelapse intervalometer feature built right in to the box)

is there not a cutting head that you can put onto the plotter to save all that scissors work? or is that used more so in the bulk production factories?

there is. i used to use one to cut out sheets of prepreg carbon fibre, you can design the part in cad, and layup in cad, and send it to the plotter to cut it all out. all you gotta do is assemble the jigsaw puzzle after that. There is also software that 'nests' the shapes for the most efficient use of material. I'd guess this is the type of setup they would have in the production factory, however for one off custom jobs like this it may be overkill?

That's a little too fast for my brain to take in.

Pha... In the future all sails will be 3D printed. Also, I don't get why sails cost $800+. It takes all of 2 minutes to make one. I guess Ben has to work that fast given how many sails his company is selling every year. Surprising he ever gets to sail.
