With all the media talk about lakes being full and such in area's around Kondinin, Lake Grace, Newdegate (Western Australia)for at least the next two years.
Anybody had a run on any of these yet? If so, any tips on where, or contacts in these towns.

Any you shouldn’t sail on, I.E. Too salty, too much hidden rubbish too shallow.?

Thanks Nebbian. Mineral

Have sailed a few of the lakes down there as it's part of my territory with work and have snuck the kit along with me when the wind forecast looked good!
Lake Poorarecup east of Frankland was a fairly good sail with strong and steady breeze. Had a great couple of days sailing on camping trip with the family - especially just before dusk. Camping is free (I think - never charged us on any of our four trips now). General store about 10km away (sells most things inc alcohol!).
Lake Nunijup (closer to Cranbrook), although not as big as Poorarecup, has a flatter landscape and cranks in a decent breeze.
Lake Towerining near Darkan looks good too, but never sailed there. big lake, with powered sites.
I have been to Lake Dumbleyung about 8 years ago when it nearly dry. Would love to see it full now!
Website attached from 2004 but lake is some 13km long & 6.5k wide!!! "Far Canal!!!!" They have a yacht club there for the
locals.www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/dumbleyung-20040208-gdkr01.html

had never heard of Lake Dumbleyung (probably should have been awake at school)

but this post caught my eye, and I did a quick google.

I know its short notice, but it seems there's a big sailing weekend at the lake over Easter.

Details are here
www.dumbleyung.wa.gov.au/files/Lake%20Dumbleyung%20Nomination%20forms%2006.pdf

might be interesting to run a windsurfer or kite over the lake.

Thanks to the replies so far. Good data. Just have to have a go after reading these. Can’t, but wished I had time for the weekend at Easter.
Just hope when I get a weekend shortly, there is a bit of "squashed air" around.

Gusty..... Musty..... Crusty the Clown, some would be great as they have raised roadways through the middle of them, and in the right blow would make great speedsailing strips!!!!!

What about the canals we built up at Laverton, the recent cyclones dumped plenty of rain, I had a call saying they were all full? .... and I heard the world speedsailing crew are going to hold a meet there?

YEah unfortunatly the marinas were not susceptible to rain/water. If you remember we had a bevvy of lactating mothers filling them with breast milk. Butter smooth i remember was the catch phrase

Crikey guys, with a 4 month old bub, I have to say the lactating thing is really over-rated!

Is there anywhere I can get historical wind info for regions? 1 year, 2 years? Perhaps Lake Dumblung blows it's tits off mid year? dunno...

Kecksoff, any feed back on historical winds for this area?

Original post somehow hit a zig when it shoulda been a sag, but guess you got it back on track with your answer.

Sooo anybody have any data or a place to start??

And no offence to other replies, some have a good sense of humour
