I know a lot of new posters do look suspicious, but as a matter of interest I got a friend of mine in England to do a google search for "windsurfing forums", and this site was about number 5 in the subsequent list.
Looks like Laurie is doing such a good job we're getting international recognition, so it's more than likely some of these new posters are genuine.
I feel we may be doing our friendly (fair go) Aussie image a disservice by being rude and unfriendly, without being certain of identity.
Can I call for some calm, and an open mind, before jumping on suspected visitors.

Think it's fair enough to express doubts, but that can be done in a polite manner at the start.

How about a new game, "prove it's Brucie" without being discourteous about it. Once there's agreement, it's open slather.

Any thoughts???

Cant be bothered with them anymore Usually check profile out, if it looks suss, and I may be able to give some good feed back, I send PM explaining that profile is so scant, nobody will support with answers, and recommend they update profile. If they are on the up and up, usually can tell from there, when the fill in some blanks.
Funny lot we are, A, Ol bruce managed to spook the majority, me included

Genuine ones must think F... Aussies, what a bunch of weirdo's.

Yeah I am happy to oblige decrep.

I must admit tho, I have a morbid curiosity as to why one twisted dude would bother asking the same question over and over.
What possible satisfaction could he/she get out of it??

Anyway, bring on the newbies we were all there once ... worried about putting up our first post.

I find it fascinating, just can't imagine what's in his head.
Hardy thinks it's attention seeking, perhaps the poor bugger has such a non life, the only social interaction he can find is on the forums.

Seems to be a basic tactic of establishing an identity in a forum, then creating dramas around them. Can't understand why he keeps trying here thou, he's not having any luck getting past our defenses.

Sounds like a fair enough idea decrep. However, free speech, free ideas etc etc. Not knocking, just don't think other users should feel censored.

I'm with grumples, what's the deal with this dood Hardie is undoubtedly most experienced in this field. However, I wonder whether there is something physical (brain injury?) behind this behaviour. Perhaps our friend does discover 20 year old windsurfing equipment every time he opens his garage. Perhaps he really does need help identifying it every couple of weeks. Perhaps he can't recall asking previously.

I am still stuck on the verbosity and writing style. Could this provide an insight

As for the game, bring it on How can we make it work separate forum topic Maybe in the secret fishing forum, no-one will look there and we can guess who is Brucie as much as we like. Perhaps Pugsie is Brucie!!!

Or, we could get Laurie to add a security option for new forum users. Maybe a questionnaire:

1. Are you a poley, bagger, surfer, lidder, diver etc y/n
2. How often do you do one of above?
3. Are you Brucie?

Being a gentle easy going character I think this sound like a spiffing idea!!

Make it a game rather than let him bother us

We need a secret code word however, one that 'ole long board wont be able to get.
We could email the code word out to each other, if we are suspicious, to all interested parties.

He who correctly calls 'troll' gets the ultimate prize

Don't think we need any secret code, I don't see anything wrong with telling the truth, if you have a helpful answer to a suspected a new poster, say so politely in your reply.

Don't think I have any censorship rights, if people feel strongly enough they say what they want. I just don't think it's constructive, and probably gives him what he most wants, some sort of personal interaction, be it a flame war, argument or any sort of attention.

Interesting hypothesis but would that explain all the different identities? Unless he also forgets them, occasionally.
