I'm currently looking for a JP Xcite Ride 110L board and I see a few specials on the 2009 models which apparently are the same as the latest 2010 just released. I have some good prices from a Perth supplier but am confused re different prices for the full wood sandwich (FWS) and the cheaper epoxy one. On the JP website it just mentions the FWS and the Pro models - I thought the Pro models were dearer, but the ones quoted to me for epoxy are cheaper.

Anyone know the real difference in the JP FWS and epoxy models, recommendations, etc. $200 price difference.

Hey Greg I can only speak for the 2009 120L Xcite
Difference is ....Epoxy a doughy learners log or ....
FWS a great reponsive freeride board,
and the Pro even better but dearer more fragile and a harsher ride
Don't forget with the weight JP state you'll have to add 800 grams for footstraps paint etc so you 110will come in at 8.5kg which is tooohhheeeeaaaaavvvvyyyyyyyy

$200 to lose 1kg board weight is cheap Greg, it's usually closer to $500/kg

in reality though the biggest factor is you and not the board. Almost always. So if you dont take a **** before you sail your 1kg heavier and thats not going to give good planing performance... haha

No really IMO the gear is 10% of the equation and you are 80% and the weather/conditions the remaining 10%...

Hey Greg whether you **** B4 you sail or not is immaterial cause your weight is mobile or at least it should be and your board is a dead weight.
To get on the plane in light conditions you unweight the board by hanging off the boom as the wind takes at least some of you weight.

I think Jp dropped the Epoxy for 2010
The X-cite is probably not the choice for the really serious punter but for us mere mortals it puts the biggest smile on you dial that you won't wipe off for hours after. Bit like an epic ride thru the mountains on a Ducati actually
