Hey guys, as an ex-pat, my wife was pointing out that not being in
Australia makes me 'jumpy' (really, aggro).

Anyways, here is the result:

Am land-locked in North America. Freestyle on an old-style Windsurfer in flaky winds on a river somewhere, the next best thing after being there...

PC.

Brought back memories...even the pink sail was the same as what I had.... The difference being I was a 40 kg skinny kid (wet) and I wasn't jumping around the sail I was being flung around by the old blown out sail..

Yes it's crap equipment. All old stuff. Board takes water a bit. Booms too long, which makes the sail floppy. Sail delaminating and real baggy at the mast. Mast was cracked, I had to plaster it.

Still, I paid $25 yard sale, and it gives me something to do in the 10-15 knot range, plus I can teach on it, do social, etc. Some of the moves - duck tack, back-to-front, front-to-back, are about the same on short boards, so useful as well. And uses more muscle than just planing in the harness, a lot more. Good for shape.

Waaaayyyy too many guys here don't show up below 20 knots. And guess how good they and their quivers are when they do go on the water, once every 2 weeks...

Exqueeze me?

10 knots is enough!! 15 knots is HONKING!!!!

20 knots is therefore MORE THAN HONKING!!!!

Those people who don't windsurf in less than 20 knots are probably the same ones who use $100 bills to light their cigars, and only eat the crust of their pizza and throw the rest in the bin...for shame...

I'll sail in 3 knots and love it - you just have to get used to not planing around all day with a stupid grin on your face. I had about 2 hours of sailing today in 3 knots and it was brilliant.
