Lucky Bugger. Just over the bridge to the south is Cudgen Reef. Perfect cross off in a Northeaster. And that time of year it should be honking. Let me know when you come down. I'll come and get a wave with you.

hey guys,

certainly turned out to be my lucky day. work has planned an office bonding trip to kingscliff. so i will be bonding with huey...

i did a google search of cudgen bombie......
http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Australia_Pacific/Australia_NSW/North/cudgen_bombie/photo/viewphoto.php3?photoaction=one&photoid=31263

how full on is that. maybe i will admit being scared straight up and question my ability to take that on. that is awesome....eggs i can see your eyes lighting up..

the beach break has loads of power in it. so the bombie must be insane......

i'll put out a post when i am going. one of the guys at work is keen to take his kit as well.

i also stumbled onto a break called needledick while on wannasurf. do you know where it is. if there is no wind i would be keen to get the old BZ wet again.

tia.

Hi Gestalt,

At cabarita (near Kingscliff) there is a big lake called Cudgen Lake, perfect flat water blasting in a northerly. The whole lake is chest deep (except for one shipping channel) and you get a decent run.

If there's a good Northerly (southerly is no good as the mountains make the wind go all swirly) when you come down then let me know and I'll show you round the lake...

Nebbian,

You live near Cabarita? My brother lives there and I visit his family each year. Cudgen Lake sounds good. Will bring my gear along next time. What time of year is best for the Northerly?

Regards,
Harrow.

Hi Gestalt/Harrow,

I'm always up for a sail that's closer than an hour's drive away (ie closer than the train/shearwater). As for waves, sure, I'm in, but don't expect me to come anywhere close to those massive waves you posted! I'm way too much of a scaredycat.

Like I said before it's only really good in a howling northerly, which normally happens from now till the end of the year. You have to be lucky though, northerlies usually aren't all that strong so cross your fingers.

cool nebbian,

will wait for a northerly, can i run a 70cm fin in the lake?

don't worry, i am not going to tackle any waves like that either.
