Kite surfers found

5th February 2008, 10:45 WST

Two kite surfers who had been missing for 24 hours have been found after setting off their EPIRB at 9am this morning.

The pair left the south eastern coastal town of Windy Harbour at about 8.30am yesterday morning and were heading 90km north-west to Augusta.

They did not reach their destination by yesterday evening in a trip predicted to take four to five hours.

Earlier today an aerial search was launched which was spotted by the men who had spent the night on the beach after winds had died down.

They set off their EPIRB which was seen by the plane and the men were then located at Yagerup Beach by a CALM officer who reported them to be in a good condition.

The practice of extended trips kite surfing along the southern coast of WA has become increasingly common in recent years.

Hey, that sounds like FUUUUN!! I'd love to do something like that on a windsurfer, except getting home would be a tad more difficult. You could carry beer on a longboard, though...
