Hey! Can anyone suggest which beaches in Caloundra or Byron are suited to kiting. Also is there much decent wind in July/August - northern NSW/ Southern Qld, or we wasting our time?!
We're looking to head north for a quick kite fix away from chilly Melbourne.
Hope you can help.
Cheers

at a guess, and I may be very wrong here, dont count on any wind that time of the year up here! But.... count on some awesome surfing.

That time of the year is why so many oldies move to qld, to garden, play golf, fish, lawn bowls!

Heres my forecast: 22- 24 degrees every day. 5-7 knot s-s/w breeze, if that.

I think (don't quote me), you'd be better heading further north in those months. I think Cairns in windy that time of year.

Very impressed guys, that's 3 out of 4 helpfull replies, (mine's not exactly helpfull). I expected at least one post to suggest going to the kite forum, and not politely either.

the funny thing is that it actually isn't very windy at that time of the year. but if it is, then it is often epic!

most of the caloundra guys don't sail much over winter. if they doo they go to caloundra bar.

wello is prob the best winter location if it blows followed closely by redcliffe.
