Finally my long awaited return to the lake is here, leave today for four days of sailing at Lake Cootharaba.

Gestalt! i will prepaired for everything the lake offers, including the odd 50 knott storm with complimentry hailstones. you know what i mean ! if anyone is interested my schedule is something like this-
wake up, eat, surf, eat, sail, eat + beer, repeated over 4 days

i will have a full round up about the lake when i get back
cheers

G'day
Pretty good time at the lake, had to use the 7.5m2 RS3 sail for the duration of my stay (except the day i put my head though it).
winds from 10-25 knot gusts but around 15 most times.
Camping was good there except for rain which happened every night.
plenty of MOTH sailboat racing going on outer part of the lake but they look like struggle in winds over 10 knotts!!!!!!!

Just a bit concerned by the depth of the lake ! is it getting shallower over the years ???

Made time to go to noosa for a surf , bumped into Sir Richard Branson along the way down Noosa Sound but i was more concerned by the strengthening south easterly !!!

Gestalt ! still plenty of debris laying around the town from the storm of a few weeks ago and the locals are still talking about it!!!

On my last night we went gourmet ! had salmon steaks on the communal bbq at the camp site with asain salad , damm those locals looked at me strange because it did not look like sausages or bacon!!!!

out of ten i give it 8/10 for sailing and 8/10 for camping

cheers

sounds like a blast. i reckon the lake is heaven on earth.

i agree, it's getting shallower. used to be parts where you couldn't touch and now you can pretty much touch everywhere. also my 70cm fin scrapes the bottom in parts when i sail there these days.

also noticed in the stronger winds that the swell doesn't get as big anymore.

all of this points towards one thing. "Speed sailing" it may become an awesome venue if the level keeps dropping.
