People generally tend to launch from the sailing club on Northcliffe Drive. Turn right (inland) at the main intersection in Warrawong. It's less than 1km from there. Maybe its a different story for NE'rs. Could try driving further south to Primbee or Windang and find a launching spot there. I live here but don't sail the lake (apart from one time in a westerly which was pretty good) so maybe someone else can tell you something useful (Whyner??). But its always windy and it's massive (but very shallow in some spots), and there's always guys out. Otherwise, if you're after flat water, there's bugger-all surf at the moment so you could get out at plenty of beaches.
It was good in the gong this arvo....been nothing for like 2 months :( 20-25kts NE. No swell to speak of unfortunately. I sailed till well after dark at East Corrimal hahah (dodgy but desperate).
Howdy Donk. Didn't sail yesterday, but it blew. No surf again. CJW, next thumnping southerly its on. I think Whyner needs to pull the cobwebs off his arse and get out there too.
Didnt blow yesterday up here qwerty Whyner cant make it to your 30th, the missus & I are visiting her sister in Cobar.Bloody 8 hr drive too nowhere. Will have a beer with u sometime soon.
Definitely Qwerty I've been about twice in the last 8 weeks...once was with an 8.5m sail I was that desperate :| C'Mon southerlies where the Bloody hell are ya!
Whyner hope you get plenty of waves. Arh Maldives, Maui. Waves, wind and boardies. Here I am riding my bike to the train station for work and it's bellow zero.Doh
I'm Gonna look at shellharbour saturday and see if its better than peggies. I'll let you know where we are going out, Has qwerty got your number? Might get out for a quick one tomorrow too (Dang).
been out at Botany Bay because the ocean here in Sydney is just insane. When I was out around 1pm it was blowing solid 40 knts. with gusts probably hitting around 50knts. ... There where plenty of good ramps around the only problem was hitting them during a lull in the wind.
At times there was a 1 1/2 meter wave breaking about 50 meters off the beach... and I mean mast churning breaking not tumbling. All a bit too much for my 4.0.
I think I'll have to get a 3.5 sail again and a 75 liter board.
Lads I reckon the North Beach Bommie could be a goer. Had a look on the way home and it didn't look too bad. Peggy's is pretty much mush, not sure about ShellH. You'd have to sail out through Belmore basin though, the shore dump at NB looks fairly sketchy (plus wind dodgy in there) :P
i'm keen to know if any one goes out today - cause at the momet it would be mental
Peggies is the southern end of Bulli beach - basically the point immediately to the south of Sandon - not bad in a southerly - but today with the amount of east in it would be pretty messy
Hehe nice pics Eckas :D Love me getting trashed in the shore break...I knew trouble was at foot when the wind was pretty light out the back :o
I got out twice, first time I managed to get a nice wave in, the second time the wind dropped a bit out the back and I thought...better come in now, if it drops off while i'm out here it's over!
