What is probably the last storm this winter just come through WA and brought some waves and winds gusting to 40 knots to South Cottesloe Beach. Ben Severe, Sander van Essen and William Kolbrink made the most of it in a sunset session. It was backloops galore.

Filmed and published in 4k so watch it on a TV if you can.

Thank you!, great video and music, I think I can sum it up with, "balls and broken masts!", but of course incredible jumps too!

Awesome video, love it, but, haha, solid 30 knots maybe?
Can you fly a drone in 75 km/hr winds?
Great video, thanks.

YouTube algorithm. always seems to reward a slight embellishments. Wind was blowing around 33 with 40 gusts coming through.

drone can easily handle 30 Knts sustained. Just burns through a battery in 10 minutes.

Amazing video as per usual! Always leave me frothing watching these!! Apologies if its been asked before and I've missed it, but what drone are you using to handle windspeeds like these?

DJI Mavic 2 Pro. The DJI Phantom 4 works just as well IMHO but the gimbal doesn't absorb the airframe vibrations as well when the motors are running at full throttle and you are very likely going to see the rotors in shot.

Mavic 3 Pro would also work. Any of the smaller drones such as the Mavic 3 mini work but won't be as stable.

You probably want to have a few hours of flying under your belt before you fly at the limit. Plus you need to have a strategy for when things go south such as the wind suddenly increasing beyond what the drone can handle.
