Thats quite a wrap for them Mr 43. I heard good things about them from one of your Maui posse.
Would you consider them above any other sail now?
What sizes did you use?

I'd think strong as or better than Ezzy, cheaper, service second to none, no bull**** serice and no questions asked warranties.

The reason I have used Simmer exclusively for 15 years.

Being an owner of a couple of Ezzy's myself I would be interested in the rigging changes too.

Gidday guys. Im no expert and it was the first time Ive ever used ezzy's.
When he first started it was basically that we had TOO much downhaul and nowhere near enough batten tension.
As David calls it, you should downhaul until the end of the "swoosh" in the second panel down.
The sails we had come with 2 different size head caps. The shop puts the long one in so that renters can get more sizes on one mast. He told us that you should only use the shortest one and try and have NO mast sticking out the top.
I think the biggest thing he was pissed off about was the batten tensioning keys. Not one sail had one, he borrowed one off a punter on the shore. He proceeded to put some serious tension on all battens. the boys went out for a run and everyone was blown away at how different they felt. Powerful but soft and forgiving.
one of the boys asked him how in previous years they had been told that you couldnt get enough downhaul on an Ezzy.
His reply: Hey, Im learning still and things change. i make mistakes.
Talk about honest!!!!
So all in all it was a huge piece of luck as we had only been there 2 days and still had 3 weeks to go. We had sizes from 4.0 (looked for 3.7 on the honking days), 4.2, 4.5, 4.7, 5.0, 5.2, 5.5 and a 5.8 on our last day. Sails cop a pounding over there with sand, sun, reef and waves. never had a problem.
He also showed us the best and easiest way to thread downhaul rope with the Ezzy cringle.
We went into the shop we rented from the next day and the owner was pissed off at us. We didnt know why but then found David Ezzy had paid them a visit and read them the riot act. Went off about the batten keys, head caps and no sail bags.
So there you go.
