Check this Video out, a bit American but shows some long board sailing.

With one of these and a traditional wave board you could be on the water no matter what the wind... I think it a must have;

The Konas are good boards, but this video is far too american !!!!

I'll be at dutchies at 17h30 with the mistral pacifico, I take a 5,3 and I also bring the paddle if it's really too light (but I think it'll be ok, and I really want to sail ;
are you coming ?

the more i see these videos the more i want one, especially for weeks like this, no wind, little waves, perfect for down laiten way, and dutchies would be ideal, may have to start getting some money saving happening for a pacifico or a kona,

What about whitewater SUPing on an old longboard? Wonder how it would go under sail power - lol! It looks a bit like the Nymboida Kayaking Centre to me, or am I wrong?

The Kona is designed for all-round use; One Design racing, learning, all-round windsurfing, cruising. So it is a different sort of board. It's about 17kg.....that's not exactly heavy for what it is.

It's a bit like saying a V8 supercar or 4WD or WRX is heavier than a dirt bike. Sure it is - but one is designed for different things than the other. The Kona can be chucked around like a slalom board, yet in light winds it's a good OD racer or cruiser or learning platform or freestyle board or whatever.

I went out on a longboard int he surf for the first time for so long I'm embarrassed. I went out after work, when the kites were coming in. Had a ball. Sure, it didn't chuck around like a waveboard, but the whole cruising along a little wave into the sunset thing was hard to beat as a way to let off steam. It was surprising how the big ole' beast cruised through the whitewater - and that was on a Wally, not a "real" wavesailing longboard.

I may actually get back into wavesailing, because I can take the longboard and go out and have fun in the waves even if it's too light for the waveboard. I had a look at the Naish and Starboard, they looked to be a lot better in surf (which fits in with what Jeffrey henderson says and he's the authority in these things AFAIK).

"Course, I'm biased as a Wally (and everything else) sailor.

lbws.com.au - longboard windsurfing. well what a blast from the past. Good site and good to see longboards again. A longboard in the surf sounds good for me who is now in my forties.

Well, I don't know about the latest crop of Longboards,I'm sure they are very well made work well in a variety of conditions and you would get much more time on the water, although I'm not sure about the benifits of centreboards in the surf, I perfer as clean a deck as possible. So I got to and made my own, a genuine surfing Mal made thicker and wider, it surfs great and windsurfs very well indeed, it was made as a surfboard first with all the qualities of a performance Mal, Surfing rocker lines. Sure it doesn't go to windward as well as a centreboard variety, but I'm working on a fin that should help.
I don't know how much the latest Longboards cost but I bet my board cost a hell of a lot less and I'll have just as much fun - No - a lot More!!!DIY
