Hi y'all, I need to get a 490 mast for a 7.0 sail which I have aquired. Has anyone got any idea what kind of $$ I am looking at roughly. I have no idea what % carbon I should be aiminig at, am new to this game, but HOOKED. SERIOULY hooked that is. The mast I use on my 6.0 is an old carbon reflex 460, which weighs a ton, or so I am told. (will chase up a lighter 460 after my impending lottery win). Have tried a really long mast extension on the 460 but it 'aint working for the 7.0, just too short.

This weekend was crazy at Kyeemagh, was all happeninig, except for parking! Excellent fun, if not a bit scary.
Much appreciated ..

490 seems very long for a 7m sail, I've a 7.3 Pryde sail and it rigs on a 460.

It depends on what type of sail you have if its a full on race sail or freerace you will need something of about 75% carbon or more.
If its just basic freeride sail then anything from 30% carbon will be adequate. A good 30% carbon 490 should cost about $350-$400 or their abouts.

Calling Eastwest,

lol, I had considered the "old bag new sail for the married man" system. I have heard it works wonders! I'm gonna make some enquiries into a 7.0 to fit 460, it would all be a lot easier anyway, esp. considering it looks like I will get a lighter 460 from Rikki. Too funny, You're a classic.
