Hi all

Looking for some info on formula sized masts. Namely, I think I need a flexier tip mast than I currently have. My sails were based on RS-6/ RS racing race sails but I think the mast I was using was too stiff in the top. It was a Pryde Freeride 520 60% mast. I'm looking at buying a new second hand mast and was wondering if there were any numbers comparing X9, Maui sails and Point 7 masts. Which has the flexier tip? Sorry but I can't give you a brand to match the mast with.

Alternatively, if you have a 10SqM and matching mast I'm willing to talk...

I've got a 9.8 RS6 for sale, not sure about a mast though, but your mast should work fine. We can always rig it up to see.

@ Rick

I was watching your Maui sail on Buy & Sell and trying to decide if I really wanted to spend the money and get back in or just stay pottering around on Pittwater. I finally made up my mind to give it a go and you'd sold it. Luck of the draw I guess.

@ Chris

As I'm not sailmaking anymore I was after something newer that wouldn't need as much upkeep. I'll keep it in mind though.

Jethrow,

The only one out of those 3 masts that is flex-top is the NP.

The P7 masts are fairly constant-curve, leaning towards hard-top and the MS are full hard-top masts.

This is an ok chart of mast bends to compare - www.unifiber.net/masts-selector (but I think it's done on slalom sized masts not the big ones, but generally the brands' masts will be close to this chart in FW sizes).
