Hi! I'm a norwegian who will be moving to either Sydney or Melbourne to study. I'm an intermediate windsurfer, and into wave riding and a bit of freestyling. Whats the conditions like in the two cities, and where will I get more and better surfing?
(I know the west coast is the best, but because of my studies I have to choose between Melbourne and Sydney)

Sydney. Much closer to all the surfing beaches.
The south side of the city is better for summer sea breezes. Good spots for most wind directions.
Melbourne gets very good wind but their surf beaches are not very close to the city.

.... and Melbourne is cold. You get enough of that in Norway. Sydney = warm water (and all that entails - boardshorts, bikinis & bluebottles)
