yes it is. i used to live and sail at mallacoota, down the coast a bit, which was good, and even though i never sailed at merimbular i think there's a prety good wave comp held there. the whole coast down that way has endless possibilities. i'm sure someone will have more specific details on merimbular, but if you've got transport go and check out mallacoota.

sail on the river mouth as the tide is going out,, crazy fast current..

one direction - you'll be planning along side the sandy shore line whilst chatting to the people walking alongside you...

go with the current and you feel like bjorn dunkerbonk speed freak. if you don't make your gybe no more sailing on the river!!!... but you'll probably have a better time on the ocean anyway

Merimbula has some great down the line sailing in a NE breeze and some good bump and jump sailing in a southerly at the river mouth.

Malacoota is an awesome spot to sail in the right conditions bit of a tricky launch on the north side of the point break, you have to swim across a small river mouth first.

You'll have a great time down there, speak to some of the local sailors and they could point you in the right direction theres still a good crew their.

Some great wave sailors have come from Merimbula, Ricky Van der Torn a pwa sailor from a few years back.
