For you guys that might remember my posts about my board with the hydroblade... well, I am now 100% convinced that it is **** and in fact dangerous. It definately brings you to a sudden stop or slow down if you are planning at 20+ knots if it gets submersed. I experienced a sudden slow down and also a complete dead stop yesterday and each time the nose of my board was going straight up the face of some large swell. I estimate I was doing upto 25 (maybe more) knots. Biggest catapult I have ever experienced. Although it doesnt rule out that I hit something but I didnt feel anything hit the fin, im convinced it was the hydroblade.
quote:Looks a bit gimmicky, if it was serious enough to be effective I can see some really sweet catapults happening if it contacts the water. or hydro-blade... is it supposed to be in contact with the water, surely not up that far???
In April 07 Windsurfing mag they tested a Screamer with the Hydrolade, and they said the experts removed it as it tended to "snag chop" when sailing deep downwind.
It does look bit odd, and rpbably does add a lot of additional drag when you plough it into the face of a wave,
Yep,it does indeed snag chop JayBee. atleast I didnt buy the board for the blade. It was just something that came with the board that I wasnt expecting or knew about. Oh well, another gimmick bites the dust!
