I got this great looking board, it's 5 or so years old, and it goes like a rocket in the right wind but the damn thing is driving me nuts... it keeps turning up into the wind, and once it turns up it's a bitch to get it around straight again. Especially when underpowered. Has anyone ever owned one, and if so, any advice for using it??

willy,
Try moving your mastfoot forward.
You dont need to do it much, try 1cm increments.
If that fails start moving everything forward, footstraps (if you can) and then fin (if you can).
Ar you using a weedfin? I know when I put a weed fin on my board I had to move to mastfoot forward to compensate for the fin.

Hate to tell you Willy its not the board. Do as above, and dont stand to far behind the mastfoot in light breezes. I have a 161 Vision which I use for light wind and its no different to all boards, as far as rounding up is concerned.

Yeah, I guess I already knew the answers I'd get.
According to the reviews I've read, and my own observation, the mast track on this board is too far back - it ends about 136cm from the tail, which is where most board's mast track is just beginning. It's WAY different to my other boards, an AHD slalom board and Mistral longboard. (duhh, of course it's different to the longboard) OK mast foot forward, straps forward, harness lines back a wee bit, more weight on the boom, here I go... *splash*

Yeah, I know the feeling Willy. I'm sure you knew the answer you just wanted a bit of backup!
Its amazing how sensitive these boards are. Sometimes a new sail will throw the whole thing out. Other times it's changing too many variables. You got a nice board there. As soon as you get yourself comfy you'll be ripping.

Set your mastfoot at about 130 from the tail, I found this a good starting point for my sails, and a couple of cm's each way does make a huge difference. Make sure you mark your board so you can set it up exactly the same each time.
GoodLuck!
