BOM is saying lots of W to SW next couple of days. The front is due here (Sydney) tomorrow. The next few days are supposed to be around the 20/30 mark. 35 offshore
Seabreeze is saying maybe 20 for Thursday and then nothing over 15 for the whole weekend.
Please explain???????????

Looks like there is a nice unexpected NE'r up in Sydney atm, at Kurnell anyway. It's just trying to get going down here in the Gong, cmon!. And yeah looks like some nice SW'ers for the next few days :)

Sure is. But you can still sail in some locations. But if it goes SW that opens up a lot more spots.

perfect cross/cross off sailing in a westerly at more than one location in the Gong.
In for at least 3 or 4 awesome days as this swell is building.

Hi,

I coming to Sydney this Saturday and will stay on for a 3-4 days. I heard that there is a windsurf shop named Surf and Ski. Do you know if they rent out equipment? Will it be possible to sail in the area where the shop is under the prevailing wind? Are there other rental shops? The forecast on www.windguru.com does not say that it will be very windy (but a big swell!). Do you think the wind is enough for sailing? It looks like it is gonna be rahter cold. Where can I buy a 3/2 wetsuit? Which are the best surf spots for this swell (that does not close out...)? I am a longboarder and does not want to steep waves...

-Cheers,

Daniel

hey Filthy, are you considering coming the other side that you taking part in these NSW talks?
I 've realized than SW is pretty awesome here (even though looking at the map would mean offshore wind)

Obvioulsy it'll be screaming in Sydney this week and I am in WA
(I am still sore from last saturday at maroubra though)

Care to name the best spots? I reckon the top end of Bellambi beach would be good in a SW'r but it would be a bit too offshore in a westerly I think.

Well can't go revealing too many secrets, but Port Kembla is the obvious westerly spot. great fun.

I've actually had great sails at Corrimal in a SW. cross off in front of the surf club.
But Windang is superb in SW still.

I ended up having a nice session at the north end of Bellambi beach this morning. It was pretty damn good, particualrly when it was SW more than W. Was shifting/gusting all over the place, 10-40kts i'd reckon, but there were some nice waves coming through later on. Not bad there at all. I'll have to try Port Kembla out sometime.

Sailed Port for an hour this arvo

Over head high sets and between 15-30knots. Pretty dam good. Tomorrow could be good but the surf will be way too big to sail there Saturday (over head high today when everywhere else was ankle high. Windang might be worth a try if anyone game. Mast and half+ on Saturday and Sunday. I'll probably be surfing.
