I've been following what was going on in the windsurfing world for a few months now (since I got back into it after almost 3 years of kiting) and geeze its getting me motivated!

-More women getting into it,
-The aloha classic sponsored by starboard full of kids in big surf,
-Development of gear that get people of any level happy (beginers, "wannawave riders" with easier boards like the evo realworld wave and all...),
-Return of the slalom with market friendly format (limited boards and sails = better allround performance),
-Super X,
-overall dynamism with more young riders...

all I have to say is: GOOD STUFF!

seem to be alot of younger people taking it up again now which great.

What was it that resparked the windsurfing interest after kiting 4 so long?

Hi Haircut

I'm a newbie and reasonably young. I'd always wanted to give it a go but somehow always got sidetracked. The gear these days makes it very easy for a newcomer and everyone is so keen to give you a hand.

Must admit, I did look at the kite thing but got turned off by the size of all the kit. I've got 2 young girls and could see them wandering into wayward lines.

Been sailing now since January and my constant "you should have been there" comments has got a work colleague all keen now too. He bought new kit this weekend and is comming out tomorrow.

Anyway the wind is looking good for tomorrow.

One of the reasons is kiting was good fun but as a student the equipment is expensive and not that durable... I had a kite for three years and it started tearing everywhere and there was no way I could sell it.
The windsurfing gear is much more durable and designs from a few years ago are not obsolete, got lucky with an awesome deal too.
Never really wanted to give up windsurfing anyway!!
