Have a NP 2000 race boom (carbon)that extends to 2480mm (2.48m)
I have a larger 4 cam sail that needs 2510mm boom. Any options like a larger end piece for the boom available? Or any other options available to get me the extra 30mm?
Don’t want to buy another boom just for this sail, wouldn’t use it that much to warrant purchase.(misses will probably belt me as well, adding “another” boom to kit)

You may be able to move your clew cringle in 30 mm. That'd be cheaper.

gruntfuttock. Just felt like sharing that word with you.

Hi notwal

Stop gruntfuttocking around

mineral1,

first thing you need to buy is a quiver or boom bag, then buy your new boom. stick it in the new gear bag and presto.

the magical dissapearing boom trick. or you can suggest that you are testing it.

Then I dun read it again, and hello, finally gotcha.
Thought you where saying like , just coming up with an answer that didn’t have any substance” too many rabbits in China" during the rein of Nassi Goring, type drift

Your idea has merits, might just bloody work!!

LOL

i am sure that there are many other ways as well. but it used to work when i was younger and hiding windsurfing purchases from my parents that thought i was actually saving for a rainy day. turned out i was saving for a windy day.

Now i am older, have kids and find myself in the i windsurf, you don't relationship. I have found a better solution. plus those that know me, know i haven't a gear bag to my name.

the method i adopt is pretty fair for all involved. Was worked out mutually as well.

i realised it wasn't fair to spend heaps on myself and leave my wife out of the picture. so these days i just come clean and say.

darling, i think you should go and treat yourself. she responds with what piece of kit are you after now. [}:)]

so my last windsurfing purchase was equalled with a $700 gym membership for the wife. all's fair in love and war.

ultimatley means the purchases are fewer but it is all up front and equal. a definate win win situation. i can also pull out the credit card in my favourite windsurfing shop and not be shot.

obviously there are times when i go without. budgets are budgets. but we both see it as pampering. we just pamper with different things.

so if you can't find another tail piece then the above method will work.

p.s. there were some really good posts a few months back about how everyone justifies there time on the water to the family. I did a search but couldn't find them. worth a read for the laugh if you can track them down.

Go on. Drill that extra hole! You know you want to!

Does there appear to be enough extra length to get away with drilling another hole (I'm assuming it uses holes to clamp on) or does it not have enough length left?

The other option, as someone else has suggested, is getting the cringle moved by a sail maker. Just copy NP's shortened boom idea.

If you use a chinook clew pulley, does that let you get away with it?

Yep, might talk to Ian at Freo and get the holes moved in a tad.
Cant drill extra hole in boom, its a twist and clamp type.

Thanks for the help.
