I use a naish 7.3 sprint on a futura(freeride)122, I weigh 85kgs and need an average of 12-13 knts to plane, Hope this helps. BTW it's really good in 15-18, flatten it out and hang on.
I have a redline 6.5 and love it! Have used it in up to 30 knots at Sandy Pt on the flat and will get me up and going in >13! Great range and very balanced sail!
Hi Richiefish What size are you and what size board is it going onto. I sailed the 6.5 redline last summer quite abit and really liked it. the cams snap onto the mast easy and it works on wave masts. But I thought that it was best as a flat fully powrered sail as it likes to be riggged fairly flat. Lots of downhaul and little or no outhaul tension still set the sail without too much belly. While it got going well it wasn't as full as some other sails for instant go. I was comfortable on it though in 15 to 20 plus knots in flat water where the sail behaved very well. I am 75 kgs so if you are bigger i would suggest the 7.5 rather than the 7.0 for the light winds. One of the guys here - approx 90 kg, runs the 7.0 on an isonic 105 as his main set up and copes with 15 - 25 well. cheers Paul
I'm about 80 kg, my big board is 102l F2 ride. usually sail in the variable conditions of moreton bay. I can get planning in 15 -20 knots with 6.2 north natural(no cams)but we often get about 12-14 knots.
