it seems anything over 80 kg is considered heavyweight...
for me 10 to 15 knots on a lake is "light wind"
in those winds i use a longboard or Free Formula ie WIDE
checked belton lake on the map and it looks like a dragon :-)
hope you sail in the belly of the beast ie larger section

the new "free move" boards are getting popular
easier, with big range and not limiting in possibilities
the Fanatic Viper is always a good starter option too - with centerboard/keel

you will need more than one sail in 7 to 20 knots
lets say 12 to 20 knots for planing
no cambers to start - makes it lighter and less technical
normally i would suggest a sail 8.x meters, but you are starting
start with a 7.x sail with little monofilm and it will last a long time
when you are ready to go faster and plane earlier - get a sail one meter larger
you may need 2 fins with this ...

there are windsurf shops in Texas AND Florida - calema has a forum too
go to the water and speak with the locals

I have looked on the-house.com for sail packages and the largest they have is a 6.5m will that work for the winds I listed above?

does anyone else know a better website to look for sails and rigging?

Call Second Wind Maui and ask them to assemble a rig package for you - they have some really great equipment that's only lightly used. That's where I got my Gecko and they gave me a maui legend sail, high carbon mast, base, extension, boom, uphaul, and harness (everything for under $1800).

Damn that's a pretty darn good deal for all that gear...wish I had known about that place when I started lol...(I was one of those who always feel for the "good" deal)

If there are only kites and sailboats there may be a reason for no windsurfers, not enough wind.
If I were you I would find out if it's practical to windsurf on this lake before investing in a bunch of gear.
