I bought a used board, F2 Strato - year???
It came with a brand new sail - www.pacific-surfsport.de, synthesis 6.5 - year???
Pacific surfsport seems out of business (acquired?), web site is dead end, was hoping to contact them for help.
Length of mast seemed ok for sail.
BUT! it is as if the mast is too stiff for curve of sail luff.
Luff sleave for mast is distorted, and battens don't end naturally at mast, but push pass the mast out in front.
To me, looks like mast is not matched to sail, needs to bend more.
Is that the case?
Mast doesn't have brand on it but is 485/27.5/60, sail says luff 491.
Do I need to get a new mast, or sail?
Thanks

You're not beswift, cosmicharlie etc are you, cause this sounds awfully like one of his stupid questions!!!!
Why is an American posting newbie questions on an Aussie forum, surely you can find one closer to home?
In case you aren't, we don't have enough info to tell. mast doesn't fit luff curve until it's downhauled correctly. How are we supposed to know how much downhaul you've used.
Lots of older wave sails set correctly have battens sitting past the mast, (stupid design, but's that's the way they were)

Hi PJ,
You really need to heave on the downhaul rope when setting up the sail.
Tie a loop in the downhaul rope, and put a screwdriver or something through it.
Sit down facing the sail, put one foot on the bottom of the mast, grab the screwdriver and pretend you're an olympic rowing champion as you haul that rope through the cleat.
Are there any local sailors that can give you a hand?
