I would suspect that north east spells disaster. North west - yes - bring it on. No matter which way the easterly is blowing, it is always patchy and doesn't seem to have any guts.

(You are obviosly looking at this weekend's forecaste and hoping).

A mate and I tried the neck from Point Water and the other side (Dalkeith is it?) a while back in sort-of easterly north easterly. It was a Saturday afternoon. Great fun avoiding the $1000 000 yaghts (god how do you spell yacht - thank you Macquarie). You would get halfway across on a 5.4m, hanging on for grim death, then be bobbing around like an idiot with a Juganaught bearing down on you.

That's just my personal opinion mind you..

Isn't there that thing about motor craft (stinkpots) giving way to sailcraft? Or then again i am living in another century. Sounded like fun anyway ---- how about north west winds? Any favourite spots?

Perhaps wait for thursday afternoon on and sail straight through to friday night to make up the recent loss of water time.....

i sailed point walter last yr on a ne, and it was funtastico.... the funnel effect of the landscape gives the wind a boost by a few knts and gybing near the round huts is on super flat water.... dreamy

but yeah the armada of plebians racing in their fancy YOTS is a huge pain in the arse,.. but have fun and watch how pissed off they get when you approach them on starboard and you request for your wrightful space.

Pack it up fellas it's all over. I'm just accepting the fact that from now until October it's back on the surfboard or hit Applecross on the NW storm fronts

I managed to get a good bit of sailing in to after the mothers day do, rigged up near apple cross and was blasting over to nedlands on a 5.0 with the tiga 285. Dad on the other hand was a little slower on another older 5.0. Wind was good form bout 11am - 1pm.
