Seems the kitesurfing forum has about 6-7 times more posts to it. Is this because they spend more time off the water than on? With the number of injuries and all they would have plenty of time on their hands...

...bizarre....I reckon kitesurf is still young and evolving a lot and everybody seems to be pretty full on
with new gears, news moves, new spots ..etc...maybe Windsurf in WA just need a new fresh input...with lots of
beginners...lots of kids riping crazy..more freestyle..etc...
WAKSA is organising a Rottnest race...why is there any windsurf crossing organized?..
with a wave event on Rottnest after??
I've only been in Perth for 3 years but I never understood why you never see any grommet windsurfer nailing
crazy new waves tricks and freestyle moves.....(maybe in Gero???)
Hopefully gowindsurfing in Safety bay might create some new talents.....

A part from lancelin when all the Euros are here in summer, why don't we see lots of people doing or
trying..spocks...flaka...shove it....double forwards(??)....etc...

let me know ..as maybe I am windsurfing at the wrong spots!!!!

leski

ps: I can't do any of those but hey......it 'll still be nice to see a lot of new moves and motivation on a spot!!!!

maybe the surf is just **** in perth for those sort of radical wave sailing tricks

for more fun try a superman jump (jump, glide, grab foot straps with one hand and other hand on boom and fly like superman, then reinsert feet to foot straps and land) refer to moto-x for any other new jump moves and tricks

I'm trying this weekend and will report back from either hospital or couch, whatever happens.

doing it tomorrow!

We may not get the wind you guys get in WA but in NSW windsurfing is not dead , we have lots of kids windsurfing and trying all the new freestyle moves. The NSW wavesailing association is offering free gear for sailors 18 and under. Check out www.nswwavesailing.org

Yeah that's the way to get kids into it. I'm 16 and i've talked to WWA about having a free gear for juniors system like NSW but i don't think anyhting has happened about it yet. The main reasons my friends won't get into windsurfing is because of the cost of gear, having to rely on parents to drive them around and also being involved in other sports. If there's any groms out there that want a windtech/kinetic 8'6" slalom board there welcome to it, but you've got to sail it. It'd be great if we could get something going like NSW going so if you've got old gear gathering dust in the garage maybe you could donate it to WWA for juniors.

right, that sounds a pretty good idea...

I could imagine that it is just easier and cheeper to grabb a surfboard and cycle to the beach!!!
well I don't have much gear myself...even though I am far from being a junior...
but if I could help any grommet around here to get into it I 'd be happy to do it...
I got a van so once a while I could carry up to 2 juniors + gear to dutchies, lancelin or mandurah when it's good
and I am going this way....
Or I could repair or help repairing any board of a junior if needed....

and if some people aound here are happy to try that " free gear for junior concept" ,
I am happy to give a hand to set it up....

so let me know

I leave in cott...and you can contact me at [email protected]

Ive got an old board that id donate to the cause,

Im sure that a lot of the shops have gear as well that will never get sold, so maybe they could see the long term benefit of getting new people into the sport, who in the future will have incomes and money to spend on new gear every year.

I can see a lot of benefits of such a pool of gear, and while obtaining the gear they will meet people that love the sport and can help them learn.
