Hi all ,

Just a thread for those who have an interest in the old Open class division of boards .

Welcome to post what you have, had, saw, remember about these boards and if you have one let us know . Pictures would be fantastic .

First cab off the rank is my Jim French Dart . Prevoius owners Lachlan Gilbert , Andy MacDougall of KA fortune .
Possibly Arthur Brett still has one of these too
PIC

Board is in Victoria ( Geelong )

There is a board mentioned on the LBWS site about Lachlans brother having a Balsa cored open class board made back in the heady 80's , any one know more about that one ?
Hope to hear from more OPEN owners .

All the best ,

ANT

Hi Waterboy ,

I purchased the board because it's one sick looking machine .

But alas I am of the Fat Bastard dimension so when I lose some weight and gain some skill I will let you know how it goes [:o)

Have heard up to 10 knots its untouchable . Anyway with me on it , I dont like its chances .

Cheers all,
Ant

Hi Ant,
I used a dart for a few years and also had another Jim French fun board style race board. At the time there was the Peter Jackson series of races throughout Australia and other sponsored races with the chance to win good cash prizes. It was completely open class racing and you could use any board or sail. At one stage I had a few different size sails I could rig on the beach and a couple of boards and just before the race I could choose the best gear for the day. The Dart was a very fast light wind board if you could keep it under control.
I saw one come up on ebay a little while ago but only noticed it after the sale had been completed. Did you buy this some time recently. Please let me know if you have thought of selling the board and gear, if I had seen it on ebay at the time I would have tried to buy it.
regards
David
