Had dinner with my inside connection last night. These are his words:

The current downturn in the mining industry will have the opposite effect on the Oakagee development than what many are expecting.

The project will proceed even faster

Why ?
Lack of employment within Geraldton area after drop in FIFO work.
Huge investment in area to assist recovery, both federal and state have budgeted large amounts for the project.
Price of project inputs (Steel, labour, fuel) has dropped.

The premier is right behind the project and is committed to ensuring the project commences A.S.A.P.

Sorry dudes, I'm just the messenger

ya sort of wonder who's pulling the strings there, ie behind the liberal govt front men, maybe some donations were or were not made and some promises for some buddies may or may not have been made, not saying anything, maybe it solves the country party requests for more money for the bush?

who actually picked the spot for the port anyway - the junior down the back of the office had some work experience for the arvo and picked a random spot on the map close to the mine?

For the GWC: was there ever a committment on paper that they would build the artificial reef as compensation to windsurfers?
