After sending an e-mail setting out my mis-givings for the Oakajee Deep Water Port ( as the gov. are calling it ) to Ms MacTiernan in mid March I finally received a letter in reply today.

It basically says "TOO BAD SO SAD", it's the only site, dust won't be a prob, it shouldn't change the recreational amenity and we should get on harmoniously with the Port.

It doesn't say when it will happen ( Kingstream who were the original proponent of the project have basically gone ) but there are plenty of iron ore projects waiting to go in the mid-west so it is probably a goer sooner than later.

Don't worry about the red iron ore dust mate - be concerned with the yellowcake variety.
There are also at least 5 big Uranium deposits inland in the mid-west. Have you not noticed lately how the govt is talking up the idea of nuke power then it will be, hey guys we have some huge deposits & hey guys we also have a purpose built port to send it to the world. Good old Oz "if it makes a buck then dig it up" attitude.
Looks like we'll be sailing with blinky the 3 eyed fish in a few years at Corro's.
It's all a big con job - what a stitch-up.
