I have a Star-Board Carve 145 2004 model. It's my first short board & I'm 83kgs. I sail mostly in lighter winds 12-18 knots with an older NP 7.4 cambered sail that powers me up quite well. The board is great for blasting, I've leant to plane on this board, I've pretty much got the hang of water starting, on the cusp of powering out of my gybes and generally flying around on the water, happy as Larry. I do some times of course, have a hard time keeping the board in and on the water! The stronger gusts will spin me out or I have to fight for dear life to keep the nose down and stop the board from heading up wind. In short I often work quite hard to sail her in the stronger winds. I do also have a smaller 6.8 NP Diablo sail, but this is not nearly as fun, but some times a must. My question is, the foot strap positions on the outer edge of the board,...... would these give me more leverage to controlling the board in the stronger winds? Indeed, what really is the purpose of these outer foot strap positions?
Would much appreciate if someone could fire me back an explanation.
Cheers, Adam
